Dry-dock # 1 is a National Historic Landmark per the Secretary of the Interior, and also a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers.                   more

 

Dry-Docking Update

As of December 1 2010, all work for this contact is done, and the contractor has left.  Ship still in dry-dock and access on board is limited to NPS Maintenance staff and Cassin Young Volunteers... preparations underway to prep ship to hopefully allow visitors back on board.

The NPS boiler room replacement has started, the old boilers put in, in 1980 have been removed and work continues.

On August 6 2010 the Caisson was moved by the Cassin Young Volunteers and NPS staff to facilitate the movement of the Cassin Young into Dry-Dock #1...
