Ship Update: The Cassin Young is still in dry-dock#1.


What and how the remaining repairs to the ship will be done is still being evaluated by the National Park Service.  For now she remains in Dry-Dock, but she is open to the public and restoration work by the volunteers are still going on above and below deck.

The USS Cassin Young DD-793 is a Fletcher Class Destroyer that served with distinction from 1943 till her retirement in 1960, along the way she was involved in a World War, a Police Action and a Cold War.

Navy Yard

Boston/Charlestown Navy Yard

The Charlestown Navy Yard was one of the original 6 navy yards established by the US Navy in 1800.  The yard served the US Navy for 174 years until its closing in 1974. Today most of the yard is publicly owned, with the exception of approximately 27 acres preserved by the NPS.
