Thomas Joyner

Managing PartnerBoston, MA

Always quick to diffuse tension with a witty remark, Tom Joyner does not come across as your typical engineer. Sure, he’s put 20 million-sf of space in place for clients in nearly every market AHA services. But he is also outgoing and values family time on his farm. Tom loves the early project conceptualization process, and he loves working closely with clients to articulate their goals and bring their spaces to life. In his 28 years of experience, Tom has learned that there are countless engineering approaches that offer varying levels of complexity and cost. So he works closely with clients to articulate project goals and empower them to make the informed decisions that bring projects to life. This approach has led him to deliver such recognizable projects as the Center for Life Science, the Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Grid Special Purpose Building, to name a few. But to Tom, the best part of his job is having an influence on both the direction of AHA and the education and advancement of hard-working engineers just starting out in the field.
